Tuesday 6 October will see the first of the Mutual Aid Lunches at St Cuthbert’s Church, Earl’s Court.
These lunches are for those RBKC residents who find themselves unemployed and in need of some space to think. Maybe they’d like to find out what’s happening locally, information about how to access support, or just socialise over a meal.
To book a place go to https://www.mutualaidkc.com/book_a_place or What’sApp 07561 493 519.
These meals would not be possible without the generous support of our local community, in particular St Mary Abbots Rehabilitation and Training (SMART), Central Gurdwara (Khalsa Jatha), Notting Hill and Gurdwara (Sri Guru Singh Sabha), Southall, Sant’Edigio and Father Paul Bagott and the Parish of St Cuthbert’s, Earl’s Court.
This initiative, a pilot scheme for the Central and South of the Borough, is backed by a website, https://www.mutualaidkc.com/platform. From the website, users can gain quick and easy access to details of a wide range of services, such as: applying for benefits, dealing with debt, homelessness, mental and physical health, re-training, further education and much, much, more.
K&C Mutual Aid was established in response to the global pandemic, working on the principle of neighbour-helping-neighbour with shopping, prescription collection and even dog walking.
This Autumn our group expects to see an unprecedented increase in demand on all services, National and Local, from Council to NHS as well as charitable and voluntary sectors. Our commitment remains, as it has done from the outset, to being a community-based volunteer group, that reaches out to our local neighbours and friends for support in times of need.
