Further to Jennifer’s communication with the Leader of the Council regarding the new charged scheme for collection of Green Garden Waste, we have received a positive response from Cllr. Tim Ahern, Cabinet Member for the Environment.
It is not necessary to sign up to the expensive Suez provision to dispose of garden waste. “Garden rubbish can be put into the black bags” to go out with our ordinary rubbish, so long as it is only one bag full at a time. It will then be burnt to produce electricity.
Although, sadly, it will not be composted, this is environmentally sound. Tim says “Our facility in Belvedere produces enough electricity to power the whole borough”.
